Opus 63 - 1983
St. John's Lutheran Church
Minneapolis, MN

As part of its year-long centennial celebration St. John Lutheran Church, 49th and Nicollet, Minneapolis, dedicated its new Hendrickson organ on All Saints Sunday, November 6, 1983.

The organ, built by Charles Hendrickson of St. Peter, Minnesota, is an electric-action instrument of 35 stops, 48 ranks, three manuals and pedal. All pipes are installed at the west side of the chancel providing a wide dynamic range from very soft to full organ. The console is designed with a low profile and is movable with 25 feet of flexible cable. A full set of combination pistons has been provided. Electric signals are multiplexed through a solid state device which provides all coupling and unification functions of the organ.

At the inaugural concert on 30 October the organ was featured in music for organ and instrument. Also included was the premiere performance of Our Faith by Leland Sateren, a cantata which was commissioned by St. John for its 100th anniversary salute to music in worship.
